HARRI KALLIO was born in Finland in 1970 and holds an MFA from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki. He recieved his BFA from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki and also studied at Oxford Brookes University.
He is the recipient of the European Publishers Award for Photography 2004, BFF Promotion Award 2003, the 2002 and 2003 Finnish Cultural Foundation Grants and the 2000 and 2004 Finnish Art Council Grants.
Kallio’s work deals with the strange relationship between humans and animals/nature. He invites viewers to examine society's attitude as well as their own towards the natural processes that humans are inevitably part of -- use of natural resources to sustain life, death, possibility of creating new life, and the relationship between man and animals, art, science and reality.
Kallio currently lives and works in New York City.
